Stability and Clarity for New Graduate Nurses in British Columbia

Beginning your nursing career should feel exciting, not uncertain. That’s why, in 2023, a province-wide initiative was launched in collaboration with the BC Health Authorities to provide consistent, structured support for all RN and RPN new graduates employed by a health authority.

This initiative was developed in response to feedback from recent graduates and aims to create a smoother, more consistent transition into practice for your first 6 months of employment.

What You Can Expect as a New Graduate RN or RPN:

  • A guaranteed 6-month consolidation period at a minimum of 0.7 FTE to support consistent practice and skill development.
  • A stable and predictable work schedule to help you adjust to your new role and responsibilities with confidence.
  • Full benefits and employment status for the duration of the first 6 months.

Eligibility
